An aspect of a system or enterprise is a feature that is linked to many parts of it, but which is not related to the primary function (as it is represented in an architecture-domain).

An aspect crosscuts a system's core concerns, therefore violating the separation of concerns that analysts and designers use to encapsulate unrelated functions.
